Memories of July

Memories of July
Acrylic on canvas-board
12″x16″
2014

Interpretation: Everything changes, memories faded – the familiar lamp post still standing there in rain – the last silent witness of some forgotten promises made under its light on a rainy day.

Experience: This is a limited palette painting. Entirely painted with painting knife. This painting was made to experiment with pure earthen pigment and nostalgic moods. The 80% of the painting is done with only Raw Umber. Minute Ivory blacks and Naples yellow were used to darken and lighten it.
The artistic goal of this painting was to show that only a simple earth pigment can also create a dramatic impact. You do not need visual cacophony of colours to create impact.
